About Akshar:

Akshar Herbs and Spices is a family-run minority women-owned business operating from Long Island, NY; started and managed by Ms. Deviyani Jamindar, a retired NY fire department officer. Their herbs and spices are grown in Uganda under expert supervision; this project is helping hundreds of small marginalized farmers by providing them the proper planting materials and training them on good agricultural practices without the use of chemicals. They have been able to improve the farmers' living standards while also keeping the soil fertile and producing high-quality organic products.
