This Watermelon Jasmine Julep is like a breath of fresh air! The bright flavors are sure to invigorate. Sarah Scarborough from Nomadic Tea Party used a Zhi Jasmine Green Tea simple syrup, watermelon, and bourbon to craft this delightful beverage.
Watermelon Jasmine Julep
- 1 Zhi Jasmine Green Tea bag
- 2 oz. water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup fresh watermelon
- 15 fresh mint leaves
- 2 oz bourbon
- crushed ice
Jasmine Green Tea Simple Syrup: Steep the tea bag in 2 ounces of 180 degree water for 4 minutes. Dissolve the sugar into 2 tablespoons of steeped tea.
Watermelon Jasmine Julep: Mash the watermelon in a bowl and strain the juice into a cup. Put the mint leaves in a julep cup or high ball glass. Add 1 ounce of watermelon juice, 3/4 ounce of simple syrup, and the bourbon. Muddle thoroughly until the mint is fragrant.
Fill the glass with crushed ice and garnish with fresh mint. Enjoy!
