Vegan Spiced Chai Latte
Makes 2 servings
Ingredients
- 3 black tea bags OR 3 tsp black tea leaves
- 2 cups water
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 whole nutmeg
- 2 cardamom pods
- 1/4 tsp whole cloves
- 1/8 tsp black peppercorns
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1-2 tbsp honey
- 2 1/2 cups non-dairy milk (we recommend almond or coconut!)
Directions
In a medium saucepan, combine the water, tea bags/leaves, and all of the spices. Bring it all to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Then, remove from heat, cover the pot, and let it sit for another 5 minutes.
Add the sugar/honey and milk to the pot and bring the mixture to a simmer. Once it reaches a simmer, immediately remove from heat.
Strain the chai to remove solids and spices, and then pour it into a french press. Pump up and down until you build up your desired amount of froth. If you don't have a french press, you can transfer the mixture to a bowl and whisk it by hand or with an electric mixture until frothy.
Serve while still warm and frothy. Enjoy!
