What better way to celebrate the arrival of fall (and apple season!) than a warm glass of spicy apple cider? If you love the taste of mulled cider, wait 'til you find out how easy it is to make it right at home with a slow cooker! All of the flavors are gradually infused by the ginger tea and blend together, resulting in a truly special ginger cider. If you're looking to impress your guests, try this recipe!

Slow Cooker Ginger Cider

Makes 16 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp loose (or 2 sachets) ginger herbal tea (suggestion: DAVIDsTEA Organic Super Ginger)
  • 1 gallon fresh apple cider (if unavailable, substitute with unfiltered apple juice)
  • 1 orange
  • 1 (1 1/2) inch piece fresh ginger
  • 5 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tbsp whole cloves
  • Orange slices (for garnish)

Directions

Begin by chopping the orange and ginger piece into 1/4 inch thick slices. Pour the cider or juice into your slow cooker and empty the contents of the ginger teabags/sachets into the slow cooker as well. Add the orange and ginger slices, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.

Next, let the slow cooker do the work! Cover and cook for 4 hours on LOW. Strain the cider before serving to remove any solids or spices. Garnish with orange (or apple) slices and enjoy!
