Sencha Ahi Tuna
By Tea Thoughts
Makes 2 servings
Ingredients
- 5 g Yunomi Sencha green tea
- Juice and grated peel of one lemon
- 4 garlic cloves crushed and chopped
- ½-1 tbsp grated ginger
- Red pepper flakes to taste
- 1 tbsp basil
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 ahi tuna steaks
Directions
In a bowl large enough for both tuna steaks, add in olive oil, red pepper flakes and basil.
Add in ginger, garlic, lemon juice and lemon peel.
Steep the sencha in 8oz of water heated to 140 degrees Fahrenheit for 60 seconds. After it has cooled, pour the tea into the marinade.
Put both tuna steaks in the bowl and spoon juice over them. Let marinate in the refrigerator for several hours, flipping them over half way through.
When ready to cook, heat a pan with some cooking spray or a little bit of olive oil until it's hot.
Place steaks in the pan and pour the juice in as well. Cook for 3 minutes on each side or 5-6 minutes if you prefer them to be more well done.
Serve with sushi rice and your favorite vegetable!
