Orange Glazed Puerh Donuts
By Tea Thoughts
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp Puerh tea - use white2Tea Orange Drop for an added hint of orange!
- 1 1/2 cups cake flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 4 tbsp packed brown sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 tbsp raw honey
Orange Glaze:
- 1 cup confectioner's sugar
- 3 tbsp fresh squeezed orange juice
- 1 tbsp orange zest
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Heat the milk and add in the tea. Let it steep for 5 minutes, strain out the leaves, and set aside 2/3 cup to cool. Combine the cake flour, baking powder, and brown sugar. Add in the brewed tea, melted butter, eggs, and honey. Mix well after each addition.
Pour the batter into an icing bag and pipe the batter into donut molds. Fill the molds 3/4 of the way full for firmer donuts or almost to the brim for spongier donuts. Bake for 8-10 minutes and then remove from the oven to cool. Once cool, pour the orange glaze into a bowl and dip each donut in the glaze. Let the glaze set and enjoy!
Orange glaze: Measure the confectioner's sugar into a bowl. Add in the orange juice and zest and mix well until the glaze is smooth.
