Hot cocoa floats are the perfect combination of hot and cold! Steaming chocolate and frosty ice cream are a match made in heaven. Indulge in this delicious cold weather treat and fulfill all of your mint-chocolate chip fantasies. Yum!
Mint Tea Hot Cocoa Float
Makes 2 servings
- 1/2 cup strongly brewed mint tea blend
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup mint chip ice cream
For this recipe, you will need a 1/2 cup of strongly brewed mint-flavored tea. This can be any type of tea (herbal, green, rooibos, etc.) with a distinct mint flavor!
In a saucepan, bring the milk to a simmer over medium heat. Add in the chocolate chips and stir until they are completely melted. Turn the heat to low and add in the brewed tea, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, salt, and corn starch. Stir until everything is well combined and heated through.
To serve, pour the hot cocoa into 2 mugs and top each with a scoop of mint-chip ice cream. The heat from the hot chocolate will begin to melt the ice cream, creating a rich texture! Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, marshmallows, or sprinkles and enjoy!
