Matcha Mint Julep
Makes 2 glasses // Prep Time: 5 minutes // Active Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 tsp matcha powder
- ¾ cup filtered water
- ½ cup packed mint (or spearmint) leaves
- 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tbsp honey or 2 tbsp sugar
- 8 oz bourbon
- Ice for serving
- A few mint sprigs for garnish
Directions
Place matcha in a small mixing bowl and gradually work in a tbsp of water (drops at a time), continuously stirring so the matcha becomes a smooth paste. Then gently add in the rest of the water.
Combine mint leaves and honey/sugar in a jar/glass/cocktail mixer and muddle (mash together) with a muddler or wooden spoon.
Stir in the lemon juice, bourbon, and matcha mix. Next strain the mixture while pressing on the mint to extract all the lovely flavors. Taste your concoction here to see if you would like more lemon juice or honey/sugar.
Serve it up over ice in two cocktail glasses, garnish with some mint sprigs, and enjoy :)
