Even though this drink isn’t hot, it’ll still warm your belly with a tingly combination of ginger, lemon juice, green tea, and vodka (or bourbon). Although, you could make it hot if you wanted to. Either way you enjoy this blend, we promise it won’t disappoint.

Green Tea Ginger Sour

Makes 1 glass // Prep Time: 1 hour 15 minutes // Active Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

Ginger syrup

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup peeled and sliced fresh ginger

Cocktail

  • 2 tbsp ginger syrup
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2-4 oz brewed green tea
  • 2 oz vodka or bourbon
  • Lemon wedge or wheel and/or fresh or candied ginger for garnish

Directions

Ginger Simple Syrup

Add sugar and water to a saucepan and bring to a simmer on medium-low heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves. Then add in the ginger, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let infuse for 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on how gingery you’d like your syrup. The syrup will keep in the refrigerator in an airtight container (mason jars work well) for up to one week!

Cocktail

If you’d like to make this cocktail hot, once your tea is done steeping, simply add in the rest of the ingredients. Give it a good stir, garnish with a lemon wedge/wheel or ginger piece and voila!

If you’d like to enjoy this one chilled, wait until your tea cools (about 15 minutes) and combine everything in a cocktail shaker with a few ice cubes and shake well (10 seconds). Serve over ice and garnish as you wish!
