Ginger Lemon Tonic

If you’re feeling under the weather, this is the perfect tonic to fix whatever’s ailing you. Ginger, lemon, and honey all have wonderful health benefits. All three are exploding with antioxidants to fortify your immune system. Ginger is known to clean your lymphatic system, great for a straight detox and cold remedy. Both ginger and lemon help with digestion and honey is a natural cough syrup! Even if you’re feeling just fine, this is a tasty drink to warm your bones when it’s cold outside.

Ginger Lemon Tonic

Makes 1 glass // Prep Time: 5 minutes // Active Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup filtered water
  • 1 inch piece of ginger root, peeled and rougly chopped
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • Honey or maple syrup to taste
  • 1 oz whiskey (optional)

Directions

In a small saucepan, combine the water, ginger, lemon juice, and sweetener. Bring to a boil and then let simmer for at least 10 minutes (or longer depending on how strong you'd like your tonic!).

Then strain into a mug and add in some whiskey, if you'd like!
