We may have found something more refreshing than cold cucumber infused water on a warm day - a crisp and cooling cucumber cocktail! The green tea base for this cocktail is nicely augmented by the cilantro, lime, and cucumber flavors. If you’re feeling spicy, add in a slice of jalapeño to give this very green drink a nice kick and a different twist!
CILANTRO LIME CUCUMBER COOLER
Makes 1-2 glasses // Prep Time: 10 minutes // Active Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 rounded tsp loose leaf or 1 sachet/bag green tea
- 1 cup filtered water
- 2 cucumbers, peeled
- 2 oz tequila, vodka, rum, or gin (pick your favorite)
- 1/2 oz triple sec
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 1/2 tbsp agave syrup or honey
- 3 sprigs of cilantro
- 1 slice of a jalapeño, de-seeded (optional)
- Ice cubes
Directions
Heat the water to around 175°F and steep tea for 1-3 minutes. Remove (strain) tea and let cool to room temperature (about 15 minutes). You can also add ice to your tea here to help it cool down faster!
To make fresh cucumber juice, blend the cucumbers and a handful of ice in a blender until smooth and then strain into a cocktail shaker. Then add the cilantro sprigs, jalapeño slice, and some crushed ice into the cocktail shaker with the cucumber juice and muddle with a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon. Next, add the alcohol of your choice, triple sec, lime juice, and sweetener into the cocktail shaker with a few ice cubes and shake well (about 10-15 seconds).
Strain into a cocktail glass over ice and add in the tea. Garnish with cilantro, lime slice, cucumber slice, and/or another jalapeño slice and enjoy!
