Chamomile Ginger Wellness Blend

When the weather starts getting colder outside, those colds start to creep up on us and before we know it we have a runny nose and sore throat. Nobody has time for that. If you feel a cold coming on, this wellness blend is a great tonic to soothe a sore throat any day. The chamomile tea helps with insomnia, digestion, migraines, and generally boosts immunity. Ginger tea and lemon juice help with digestion as well and are natural cough suppressants and sore throat soothers. Ginger also helps stimulate sweating, which cleanses your system and lowers body temperature. No wonder it’s called a wellness blend!

Makes 1 glass // Prep Time: 5 minutes // Active Time: 5 minutes

  • 3 cups filtered water
  • 6-8 slices fresh ginger, washed and pounded with a mortar or a wooden spoon
  • 2 rounded tsp loose leaf or 2 sachets/bags chamomile tea
  • 1-2 tbsp honey
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice (optional)

Bring 1 1/2 cups of the water and ginger to a boil in a saucepan, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes. Remove from heat and strain out ginger slices (these can be saved and used for a warm bath!).

Heat the other 1 1/2 cups of water to 212°F and steep tea for 5-10 minutes. Remove (strain) tea and combine ginger tea and chamomile tea in your favorite mug. Sweeten to taste with honey, lemon juice, or more hot water. Drink it up and feel the goodness.
