Berry Orange Rooibos Margs

BERRY ORANGE ROOIBOS MARGS

This isn’t your typical margarita. For one, it’s bursting with holiday flavors of cranberries and oranges - the power couple of non-summer fruit. You can even make this with blood orange juice to be completely in season. Two, it boasts a smooth rooibos tea taste in the form of rooibos tea simple syrup - now that’s unique. Whip up a batch for your next holiday get together and serve it up as an extraordinary precursor to a wonderful evening!

BERRY ORANGE ROOIBOS MARGS

Makes 4-6 glasses // Prep Time: 10 minutes // Active Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

Rooibos Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup filtered water
  • 2 rounded tsp loose leaf or 2 sachets/bags rooibos
  • 1 cup sugar or 1/2 cup honey/maple syrup

Margaritas

  • 1 1/2 cups tequila
  • 1 1/2 cups cranberry juice
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup triple sec
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 cup rooibos simple syrup
  • Ice for serving
  • Sparkling water or club soda (optional)
  • Fresh cranberries and orange slices for garnish

Directions

Rooibos Simple Syrup

Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan, remove from heat, add in the tea and let steep for 5-10 minutes. Remove (strain) tea, return saucepan to stovetop and bring to a simmer. Add in the sugar/honey/maple syrup and stir constantly until completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. This will keep well in the refrigerator in a sealable glass jar (mason jar) for up to 1 month!

Margaritas

In a large pitcher combine the tequila, cranberry juice, orange juice, triple sec, lime juice, and simple syrup. Add more simple syrup or lime juice to taste. Sugar the rims of the glasses, if you'd like. Serve over ice, top with club soda, and garnish with cranberries and orange slices and enjoy!
