Although this combination sounds like a lovely holiday punch, it actually is quite a powerful detoxification fusion. Rooibos tea (and tea in general) is known for its antioxidant, immunity-boosting, and cancer preventative qualities. Additionally, cinnamon helps control blood sugar and has amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. And of course we’ve all heard that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, namely because apples are high in vitamin C and B, promoting healthy immune and nervous systems. Brew one of these detoxes up for yourself and get a cleanse while sipping on a tasty drink!

Makes 2-4 glasses // Prep Time: 1 hour // Active Time: 10 minutes

  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 2 rounded tsp loose leaf or 2 sachets/bags rooibos tea
  • 1 apple (type of your choice), thinly sliced and de-seeded
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Ice cubes (or rooibos tea ice cubes)

To make the rooibos tea, heat the water to 212°F and steep tea for 6-7 minutes. Then remove (strain) tea and set aside to cool to room temperature (about 15 minutes).

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled tea, apple slices, and cinnamon stick, and add in a handful of ice cubes. To make rooibos ice cubes, make extra rooibos tea and then freeze in an ice cube tray! Using rooibos tea ice cubes will prevent your tea from becoming diluted.

Chill in the refrigerator for an hour before serving. You can refill the pitcher with rooibos tea or water at 2-3 times before the flavors start to fade from the apple and cinnamon! Enjoy!
