Want to make a statement at your next holiday party? This hibiscus lip cream will make your look pop! This recipe will show you how to turn your tangy hibiscus tea into a natural, chemical-free, cruelty-free, and nourishing lip cream.
HIBISCUS LIP CREAM
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 1 tbsp hibiscus tea
- 2 tsp almond oil
- 1 tbsp grated beeswax
- 2 tbsp cocoa butter
- empty lipstick tube
WHAT TO DO
The intensity of the pigment in this lip cream will depend on how strongly you choose to brew the hibiscus tea. If you want the lip cream to be more subtle, use 1 teabag/1 rounded tsp of tea leaves per cup of water and steep the tea for less time. Double or triple this ratio and steeping time for a stronger brew and darker pigment
Using a double boiler, melt the cocoa butter and beeswax together. Add the almond oil and hibiscus tea and mix well. Whisk vigorously with a fork for at least 5 minutes, or until the color is evenly distributed throughout the mixture and there are no visible red beads or droplets.
Pour the mixture into a small bowl and refrigerate it for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, take the bowl out of the fridge and vigorously stir the mixture to create a whipped and airy texture. Put the bowl back in the fridge and repeat this process until you are satisfied with the consistency of the lip cream. Then, transfer the mixture to an empty lipstick tube and allow it to fully set (this doesn't have to be in the fridge).
Enjoy your beautiful and festive lip cream!
