Raspberry Rooibos Julep

Searching for a new stance, a new slant, a new savor? Add in some Raspberry Pecan Rooibos by Zhi Tea to give a different perspective to the timeless mint julep. The raspberries, mint, and bourbon play well together in this intricate cocktail.

Raspberry Rooibos Julep

Makes 1 glass // Prep Time: 10 minutes // Active Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

Rooibos Tea Syrup:

Cocktail:

  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 2 tbsp (1 oz) rooibos tea syrup
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 8 mint leaves
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • Crushed ice
  • Mint sprigs and raspberries for garnish

Directions

Rooibos Tea Syrup:

In a small saucepan combine the tea sachets, sugar/honey, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 2 minutes. Then remove from heat and let cool. (The syrup will keep in the refigerator for up to a week!)

Cocktail:

In a cocktail shaker combine raspberries, tea syrup, lemon juice, and mint leaves and muddle together. Strain the mixture into your cocktail glass and add in the bourbon and crushed ice, stir gently. Then garnish with mint sprigs and raspberries and enjoy!
